All set for 4g voLTE phones at Rs.500 from JIO, Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio is about to launch new 4G VoLTE featured phone, which could be one of the cheapest, in the Indian market at a price of Rs500, Probably this phone may be launched in July and will be made available in the market by August. This phone is likely to be launched at the annual general meet of Reliance Industries Ltd on 21 July.
Jio will soon launch Rs 500 worth 4G VoLTE handsets, which will be targeted for those, who are using feature phones as of now. Such cheap VoLTE handsets will enable direct migration of these users from feature to 4G, and possibly unleash a new wave of 4G Internet users in India. This will be a feature phone which may have limited features as compared to a regular smart phone. The phone might have a small screen and will come loaded with its own customized apps.
Jio’s ambitious plans to flood the market with its 4G devices by 15 August. New 4g voLTE phones at Rs 500 from JIO has placed orders for 18-20 million phones with prominent Chinese original device manufacturers. As per Rajiv Sharma, HSBC director and telecoms analyst, Jio will subsidise $10-15 (Rs 650-975) per handset, as it aims to sell them “at Rs. 500 (sub-$8) to lure 2G subscribers to directly switch to 4G”, Earlier, it was believed that Jio will sell these handsets at Rs 999, but now, the price has been speculated to be Rs 500.
Cheap Handset Combined With Cheap Data Plans
- Not only cheap handsets, but Jio is going to introduce special cheap plans for the new wave of users.
- Currently, Jio offers smartphones under its Lyf brand, starting as low as Rs. 3000 in the economy 4G phones segment of the likes of Micromax and Intex.
- But a 4g voLTE phones at Rs 500 from JIO would disrupt the Indian telecom sector that has seen huge competition since the launch of Jio.
